Glamour Gals Visit Again!
During National Volunteer Week, Students from St. Joseph’s High School commemorated National Volunteer Week by visiting our residents. The girls in the school are part of the New York chapter of National GlamourGals, Inc. a voluntary, not for profit organization. Its goal is to organize teens to visit nursing homes where they give residents complimentary makeovers, hand massages and manicures. While they are dispensing their beauty aids and tips they form relationships with the elderly. Our residents enjoyed the visit from the young and exuberant GlamourGals. Accompanied by their teacher Julia Porter, they visit Cobble Hill approximately once a month and bring their beauty services to various units and the Recreation Room. More than 20 residents waited with excitement for their visit on Saturday. This time the girls brought along a reporter from NY1 who interviewed GlamourGals’ President, Rachel Doyle as well as some of our residents.
