Cobble Hill Resident Featured in Viral Music and Memory Video

Over 500,000 people watched this clip of Henry, a Cobble Hill patient, who has benefited from our iPod program. Cobble Hill Center was one of the first facilities to implement this valuable program several years ago. Almost 100 residents are part of the program.

A Sneak Preview of New Renovations and a Visit From Lady Gaga

A sneak preview was held at Cobble Hill Health Center last night to show off our newly renovated floor to social workers and discharge planners from Methodist Hospital, Long Island College Hospital, Suny Downstate, New York University Hospital, Brooklyn Hospital and Downtown New York Hospital before it opens. Guests arrived via limousines. Everyone received guided tours and enjoyed the evening of live music and Lady Gaga’ performance. See a slideshow of the party and Lady Gaga.

Cobble Hill’s IPOD Program Scientifically Proven to Enhance Quality of Life

Neuroscience research during the past 10 years has made great strides in documenting the relationship between music and the brain. At Cobble Hill Health Center, our residents receive an iPod loaded with customized musical selections that reflect their tastes and preferences. Our therapeutic recreation staff interview residents to find out what kind of music they like and then find selections to download from iTunes. Recently, the New York Academy of Sciences Music, Science and Medicine conference brought together leading researchers to share what we now know about music and its impact on Alzheimer’s disease, pain, Parkinson’s, coma and autism. The Cobble Hill Health Center Annual Dog Show

The Cobble Hill Health Center Annual Dog Show attracted a capacity crowd in our dining room, as 15 pooches paraded and preened to the delight of residents and guests. This colorful, enjoyable and full of fun event was staged to entertain our residents who had a chance to pat the dogs, watch them do tricks and enjoy seeing the wide variety of breeds participating, from small toy dogs to very large bulldogs. Residents say Good Bye to graduating GlamourGals

The Thomas Edison High School Chapter of the GlamourGals Foundation has been visiting the Cobble Hill Health Center for several years. Participants have developed close relationships with many residents, as they offer them makeovers and other beauty services. With their High School Graduation nearing, Seniors visited residents for the last session of this school year and to say good bye to their elderly friends. The girls performed makeovers and facials and promised to come and visit in the future. View the slideshow.
